We had less than a week to throw together a Super Bowl Party. The Pastor here, Mitch, has a projector thing-y that he set up using a large 60 inch screen and the in house speakers so that we could watch the Super Bowl in the Carnaval Room.
I had put up posters telling everyone we were having a party to watch the game and that everyone should bring a lawn chair, a snack to share and a cooler full. We weren't really sure how many would make our party with this late notice but we were hoping for the best.
As it turned out we were pleasantly surprised. All totaled we had 51 there to watch the game start to finish and several that came for awhile and then left.
There were lots of snacks to choose from and and at halftime we ordered 15 large pizza's compliments of the park owners. Thanks Jack! I don't think I need to say here that there was no shortage of beer.
Since we watched the beginning of the game at just after four in the afternoon we had to cover the windows to keep out the light so everyone could see the screen.
Since the Cardinals beat our Eagles in the playoffs I was determined to root for the Steelers. But come game day I had a change of heart and was hoping the Cardinals would win. After all, we are winter residents in Arizona two years running now.
It proved to be an "edge of your seat" game and I was really sorry that they lost. They sure gave it all they had.
The commercials were good this year. We especially liked the Budweiser ones and the one from Dorito's with the snow globe.
Hopefully, next year, Quail Run will have its own BIG screen TV for the Super Bowl. We're working on that now and I see it as a very real possibility.
We can only wonder now which teams will be playing in Super Bowl next year.
