(Key West, FL)
Today was the pits!
We were supposed to meet up with Delaware friends, Susan & Paul today. They are here for a long weekend celebrating their 30th anniversary with another couple.
Susan called this morning while I was outside but left a message as to where they would be and at what time. All well and good.
We haven’t done anything these past few days because Bob hurt his shoulder/neck and he couldn’t do things like lift his arm up or turn his head very far. After two days of really being careful with it and taking Aleve to deal with the pain it was starting to feel better. Yesterday he hurt the other side. He didn’t do anything out of the ordinary that he knows of, but again, the shoulder/neck area, just the other side. It wasn’t as bad as the first time but it was still uncomfortable and caused him to overcompensate when turning his head or upper body. Didn’t make for a happy camper.
I really needed to get out of the house and do something. Stir crazy would be term that would fit here. Boredom would be another. So when we got the call to go hang out with friends I was more than ready!
Well, we got downtown and Bob asked again where we were supposed to go. I told him the name of the pier that Susan left in the message but we couldn’t find it on the map of Key West that we had. We decided we would park and ask somebody where it was and if it was any distance away we would hop on the public transportation bus or call a taxi if we had to. We had a plan.
We thought traffic was bad the day we took a wrong a turn and ended up here but that was nothing compared to now even without the 5th wheel behind us. Then it dawned on us. It’s a long weekend for many with Veteran’s Day on Monday. The cruise ships were also in which put a lot more electric cars on the road too.
Well, we circled and circled and drove up and down streets and could not find a parking place anywhere. Oh, we found some that Smart cars would fit it but certainly not The Beast.
It didn’t help that it was a warm day either. So here we are, hot, his neck and shoulder are now killing him from looking left to right for a parking space, I’m aggravated because I just want out of the truck and to do something.
We finally gave up and went home. It wasn’t one of our better days, that’s for sure, but we have days like this so that we appreciate the good ones that much more.
