NEWSFLASH!!!! NEWSFLASH!!!!! NEWSFLASH!!!!! NEWSFLASH!!!!!
ELVIS LIVES! Elvis was spotted in Arizona today in an Arizona City RV Resort of all places. The winter residents of this park gathered in the Carnaval Room for a concert of songs listened to long ago, performed by the King of Rock & Roll himself!
Yep, that's right, Elvis came to Quail Run tonight.
Elvis, made his entrance to the sound of 2001 A Space Odyssey. As we waited for his entrance we sat there with goosebumps running up and down our arms and when the strobe lights that were set up on the stage went crazy and the music got louder, well, the place just went nuts! You could actually feel a crackling of energy in the air. Well, in the front row anyway. Cameras were flashing, women were swooning and screaming. You would have thought we were in the Coliseum or the Philadelphia Spectrum seeing the real deal.
Now let me tell you right here and now, Jeannie is an Elvis freak fan! She even made signs for us! Of course we had the very best seats in the house as we put our chairs in the middle of the aisle he walked up to get to the stage! We were front and center!
This fella put everything he had into his "Elvis performance". His suit seemed to be a perfect reproduction of one the King would have actually worn, possibly the Blue Starburst Suit.
He had all the moves and they just made the women in the audience go wild! He could shake that leg! And that lip curl...OMG I have goosebumps right now just thinking about it!
When he sang "My Teddy Bear" he threw stuffed bears into the audience. You would have thought he was throwing out bags of hundred dollar bills! Women practically knocking each other over, jumping higher than they have in many years to get one of these coveted bears.
When El sang, yeah, those of us close to him call him El, "Can't Help Falling in Love" we all sang along.
He still had a few more teddy bears left and Darlene was determined to get one. You can see he's got one tucked inside his jumpsuit.
She ended up getting it.
A little later in the program he threw gift wrapped boxes out into the audience. Here's one our winter residents giving him a target to throw at! By the way, the boxes were Russell Stover candies.
Elvis made his way down to the floor to meet and greet the people in the audience. This is Dona, with her hands all over him! I'm still trying to figure out if she was trying to pick off sequins for a souvenir!
He still had one last teddy bear left and Jeannie got that one. I thought about fighting her for it but I want to stay in Quail Run till April.... The stage isn't all that high so I think the whole experience just took her to her knees.
When he sang Amazing Grace, words just escape me to describe it. And his last song, America the Beautiful, well it just wanted to make me stand up and salute the flag!
Marlene, Jeannie and Me with THE KING!
In case you are wondering, yes it was like a real concert, complete with panties and bra being thrown on the stage but I'm not tellin' who they belonged to!
He put on a good show and everyone seemed to really enjoy it. We had contracted him for an hour show and he was on stage for two! He was having such a good time with us that he just kept going.
It is certainly a night to remember.
I'll end this with.....
ELVIS HAS LEFT THE BUILDING!

Wow! What a fun evening. (and I'm not even an Elvis fan)
Snookie, this made me really jealous of not being at the concert. Too bad we didn't have him come last year while we were there!!
