7/23/2012 Lots of Free Time

(Rehoboth Beach, DE)

This is so wonderful to have time! Time to do what we want, when we want. I could almost equate this with being set free from incarceration! Ok, maybe that’s taking it a bit far but it sure feels good all the same.

We ran errands today without worry about getting someplace on time before it closes like we usually do when Bob got home in the very late afternoon.

Once again Bob spent his afternoon hours at the rail fishing and I spent mine sitting in the sun reading a James Patterson book I can’t seem to put down.

I want to take this time to welcome two new frequent readers. Lynn Hubbard writes the RV’ing blog Lynn and Terry's RV Living. Welcome aboard Lynn, I hope you enjoy the journey.

Another new frequent reader is Suzie Stormm, author of RV Crazy? which you can find HERE. Glad you are following Suzie and hopefully our paths will cross some day.

For those of you who leave comments, and I love when you do(!) I’m afraid you are going to find one of those annoying comment roadblocks from now on. The roadblock where you have to type in the letters that you see in the block provided. I hate to have to do this but the SPAMMERS have found my blog…. big time! So I’ll do this for awhile until the word gets out that I’m not an easy mark anymore.

Does the area you are in need rain? We pray daily here for the wet stuff to fall from the sky. Seventy five percent of the corn crop is gone and seventy seven percent of the soy bean crop has bitten the dust. Literally. So many times the sky turns black as night and we can hear thunder off in the distance and can see lightning, heat lightning as its known around here, but the rain doesn’t come. Surrounding town get it but we don’t. Just this evening I ran down to Bethany Beach to pick up subs for dinner and it POURED for about fifteen minutes. When I got home, four miles later, not a drop had fallen.

We’ve had a rash of boat sinking's and boat accidents these past few weeks. Perhaps its normal and we just never heard about it before but with us being around boats nearly every day we’re taking notice. I already told you about the power boat and sail boat accident and since then we’ve had a small boat with eight passengers, including an infant, go down at the mouth of the Inlet. Luckily they were all wearing life jackets and were plucked from the water by other boaters and the Coast Guard. Another charter boat sunk five miles offshore this past week. This was a boat that normally moored in the marina. Seems as though it started taking on water and headed for Ocean City, MD since it was closer to that marina but it didn’t make it. Everyone was rescued. This past weekend a boat blew up at a nearby launch ramp. We could see the black smoke billowing up into the sky but didn’t hear until later that a boat still on the trailer had its engine flooded and while waiting for it to settle the boat owner decided to change out the battery. It caused a spark and there were enough fumes that it blew. I understand the boat owner was burned slightly and was able to unhook the trailer/boat from his truck so that he didn’t lose that too. It just seems like one accident after another.

Tomorrow we head to Wilmington.
