10/11/07 Balloon Fiesta - Part Two

We made it home on the bus around eleven and hung around the house waiting for four-thirty so that we could board the bus again and head back to the balloon field for the "Glowdeo". We had to pay another forty four bucks to ride the bus again but with rush hour traffic it was money well spent.

With so many food vendors we decided we would eat at the fiesta. Bob ate some Mexican food and I had a huge stuffed baked potato.

This is a picture of a local news celebrity. Take note of the pins on his jacket. These are a hot commodity here at the Balloon Fiesta. Tent after tent was set up to sell the pins and there was even a swap meet for them. Not only were the pins all over the front of this coat and hat but down the back of the coat too.

I have to confess, I was disappointed with the "Glowdeo" or moonglow as we know it. We had been to a balloon festival several years ago in the Adirondacks in New York and we attended their moonglow and it was set up so much better than this one. Maybe it was because it was special shapes that this one seem so jumbled and not well laid out. In New York the balloons were lined up all in a row so that you could see them all at once. Here they were set up every which way and the ones in the center you couldn't see. In addition it was so noisy with thousands of people there that the balloon pilots evidently couldn't hear the call for them to light their balloons up.

I did snap a few pictures but if the truth be told I was expecting to get a lot more.

Fire em' up!
and Bob's favorite showed up very well!
After the Glowdeo we had a fireworks show. That was very nice and after that we sat on the field and listened to the Air Force Band play.

We were glad to get back on the bus and head home. It has been a long day and neither one of us is going to be long out of bed.

We came, we saw, we are tired.
