Dianne has arrived!
The day flew by for us getting last minute things done, grocery shopping, picking up mail and making a few phone calls.
We found the airport with little trouble and arrived just as she was deplaning. Bob drove around the block while I went inside to find her. I called her on the cell phone and we talked until she found her way to the elevator and when the doors opened darn if didn't continue to talk to each other through the phone even though we were in front of each other. I guess it was the excitement of seeing her.
We drove back to the base with a stop at a shopping center so that I could buy a new pair of much needed sneakers. I can jump really high now and run really fast!
Back at the base we went right to the dining hall for dinner.
Geez, when I was in they were called mess halls and you didn't have a choice of meals like today.
Here's Dianne and Bob choosing entrees.
They have a very nice salad bar in this dining hall. Cherry tomatoes! Yummy!
Dining facilities are more like restaurants with their seating.
Dianne makes friends with a bear.
Returning home, Dianne didn't last too long with us. She had been up nearly 24 hours and spent 11 hours on a plane. By nine, she was in bed and sound asleep.
Welcome to ALASKA our friend.
Tomorrow morning, hopefully bright and early, we will get the wheels rolling towards Seward. We've been there once already but there were so many things we didn't do because we knew we would be back with Dianne. We're all looking forward to our time there.
