It was a Girlfriend’s Day here in our neck of the woods. Today it was shopping in the Commissary, Base Exchange, coming home playing games of Mexican Train and after dinner we went to the movies. Just us girls, Dianne, me, Valerie and Joy. We went to the movie theater here on base but not before a stop at the BX to get our candy and drinks which somehow managed to make it inside pocketbooks before we walked in.
We each paid our 99 cents for our tickets and found the perfect seats.
We went to see Horrible Bosses.
The main plot follows three friends (Jason Bateman, Charlie Day, and Jason Sudeikis) who decide to murder their respective overbearing, abusive bosses (Kevin Spacey, Jennifer Aniston and Colin Farrell) who they believe are standing in the way of their happiness. Jamie Foxx also played a good part as the thug who was going to teach them to be hit men.
After what seemed like previews of movies to come that lasted forever it was finally time to stand for the National Anthem. For those of you not familiar with a move theater on a military base, yes, we stand for the playing of the National Anthem. Wasn’t that something that was done just as a matter of fact years ago in theaters?
Was it a good movie? Well, some parts of it were but the language was over the top and some scenes too explicit. Fine for consenting adults but for the children in the audience, eh, not so much. Actually, I was appalled that the parents of these youngsters, which seemed to range from 7 to 10 years old didn’t get up and LEAVE! Jennifer Anniston had one scene where there was little left to the imagination and her very explicit instructions were not for such young ears! I was embarrassed for these kids and wanted to smack their parents up long side of their heads! Totally, totally inappropriate movie for kids. It lived up to its R rating.
