(Albuquerque,NM)
We took our time driving what should have been a two hour or so trip from Santa Rosa to Albuquerque. We made several stops including a twenty five minute stop at a roadside tourist trap.
We thought we were going to run into a really bad storm on the way.
As we got closer the clouds got darker but we could definitely see where the sun was getting through a break in the clouds.
I never get tired of seeing the overpass decorations that are so prevalent in the western states.
We pulled into Kirtland Air Force Base where we’ll set up in the FamCamp. This was a new base for us as the last time we tried to get in here they were full due to a graduation taking place and the FamCamp was booked solid.
The camp host who checked us in was very friendly and helpful with giving us maps and directions.
Our site is just across from the laundry which a good thing because I haven’t done our laundry since we left our son’s home in Kentucky. We were both down to wearing our least favorite things. A dollar for wash and dry each also made me a happy camper.
We were happy to be able to open all the windows have a delightful breeze flow through the house. Just a breeze, no dust or sand involved.
After getting set up we made a run to the Commissary to pick up a few things. There was a big display of Maxwell House coffee that normally sells for $6.99 and was on sale for $5.99 and then add in a $1.00 off coupon that was attached to the top of each container, well I was just in grocery shopping heaven! I put four (almost 2 lb) containers in my basket.
We took a ride around the base to get the lay of the land and then settled in for the rest of the day.
