Shortly after we got to work today my cell phone rang. It was Rick our real estate agent, we've got a settlement date on the house! December 13th and we'll no longer be homeowners.
Bob is getting a little aggravated with his job. It seems as though Wayne and Jim just fight him every step of the way on how things need to be done. They just can't seem to get it that Bob does this for a living and knows what he's doing. It doesn't help that when he needs something from Lowe's that he gets an argument because they have to have a "big list" in order to justify going there according to Bob the owner. Bob is getting aggravated!
Let's see, what was my work day like? Well, I had the pleasure of spending 4 minutes walking to the mailbox and back and let's not forget the highlight of vacuuming the office carpet. Of course there is the never ending job of picking up those damn pine cones.
Today, Debbie the office manager did share something with me! I got to ride in the golf cart her while we took "inventory" of the campsites. Everyday this has to be done. One rides around and puts check marks on a map of the campground the sites that are filled and a circle around the campsite number that is not filled. Well, that took 15 minutes.
Its still cold here and we have to have the heat on now. I want to go back to shorts and T-shirts!
I'm not happy here. Talking with Bob after dinner I soon found out he's not all that happy either. This isn't what either one of us thought it was going to be. Bob says he's working just as hard at this job as he did when he worked full time for the Guard. At a whole lot less money to boot! He said he signed on to work campground maintenance not to be a contractor! I think we've both had these feelings from the beginning but didn't want to be the first one to say it out loud or were waiting for the other to bring it up first.
The straw that broke the camel's back happened this afternoon. Concrete had to be mixed and poured and when it came time both Wayne and Jim suddenly had other things to do, leaving Bob to deal with it. Wrong thing to do! Bob the owner had told Bob that he was the "project manager" and that the other two were his laborers and/or helpers if you will. Enough is enough, we've decided that the money we're making (or should that be the money we're NOT making), the cold weather, being out in the boonies, oh hell, just everything is not what we want. We're leaving, we're outta here. I'll tell them in the morning.
We spent the evening on our computers looking for campgrounds/RV resorts further south in Florida where its WARM.
