Tuesday we didn’t do a whole lot of anything. We took a ride around Dillon to check out the town and what a great little town it is. The homes in the original part of the town are probably around 75 year old, Craftsman type houses with wonderful wraparound porches and huge trees shading the streets. We rolled the windows down and enjoyed the sounds of the town. Lawn mowers, kids laughing, a hammer driving in nails building something. We looked in windows and saw the townspeople go about everyday life. There was one house with a large picture window with the drapes open and just inside was a little girl sitting next to a lady at a piano….piano lesson time would be my guess. The town is growing on the north side where the new Safeway was built and the Pizza Hut now stands. McDonald’s has moved in but there is still the feed store and Pam’s Cafe which is where the retired men of the town probably gather for morning coffee. It looks like a happy little town and if it wasn’t in "cold in the winter" Montana, I’d probably like to live there.
Wednesday brought us a moving day. We headed down to Idaho to our friends Don and Billee from Quail Run.
Some pictures along the way.
A good sized reservoir.
There was very little traffic on the road today, we pretty much had it to ourselves. This isn’t a very populated area but we did pass little tiny,,,,well, not even towns, clusters of houses and maybe a gas station.
It was good to cross over into Idaho once again.
Scenes from the road.
The Snake River.
We pulled into Don and Billee’s by early afternoon and we got settled in quickly.
This wheat field has been harvested and already replanted.
We sat outside in the back yard and caught up with all summer goings on with them, what they’ve been up to, our Alaska trip, who’s heard from who and on and on.
Billee made us a delicious dinner and afterwards we retreated to the back yard again. I don’t know why Don had this jacket on because its very warm here.
As we sat there we could hear this small engine, a constant drone in the background. As it got closer we realized that their neighbor was out “flying”.
Billee and I took a walk around to get a better look at this and I snapped this picture of a birdhouse with moon in the background.
A very nice sunset…..
The perfect ending to a very nice day with cherished friends.
