8/31-9/2/12 Labor Day Weekend

The snowy egrets were back in the trees this Labor Day Weekend. Just a few this time, not like a couple of weeks ago.

Weather this fine weekend? Hmmm…sunny mornings and partly cloudy afternoons. The temperature is hovering around 90 and without the intense sun in the afternoons, its quite pleasant.

We expected Friday to be very busy at the ramp this weekend and were quite surprised that we were steadily busy but by no means slammed.

Saturday was much the same. I guess because school is in session already in these parts that the people just didn’t come to the beach in droves like we thought they would. I guess kids have team practices now, are reconnecting with school friends and life is settling back into the school year.

I did see one boat that was being put into the water this weekend that the name caught my eye.

I’m don’t care what anybody says, that’s just darn clever!

I met this nice couple today, they arefrom northern Delaware, Tom and Vicky with a Y. They took delivery of their new boat.

They would also like to RV in the winter time so they are buying all their toys now while still working.

Many years of calm seas to you Tom and Vicky with a Y.

Depending on where you are dictates the kind of road kill you’ll come across. It seems everywhere we see squirrels, we saw an armadillo once in Tennessee, ground hogs are pretty prevalent, in the mid-west its prairie dogs. And skunks, they pretty much are everywhere too. In slower, lower Delaware the road kill is much different. Here’s what we see here.

Yep, crabs!

Normally we would be going to Wilmington tomorrow but with the Labor Day traffic and having to be back here by Thursday, we’ll wait another week.

Time is getting short for us here!
