5/31–6/2/2011 What a Difference a Day Makes

We ushered May out and welcomed June dressed like it was the middle of January in a blizzard with snow six feet deep and an Artic wind blowing. I exaggerate,,,it was the like the snow was only five feet deep, it was snowing hard and we had a stiff breeze. Ok, ok, forget the snow, the drifts and the wind but it WAS cold enough that we did in fact dress like on a typical winter day. And then wham, bam, thank you ma’am its ninety six and we’re sweatin’ to death. Truly, what a difference a day makes.

We finished up our work stint and we’re starting to fill in more each day. Most stay overnight but a few are here for several days.

I went to the eye doctor for an exam and to pick out new sunglasses. I am so thankful for vision care insurance! Glasses are expensive! In about a week and a half I’ll have new prescription shades and will be able to sit outside and read.

We met a couple here named Bob and Sharon. They have kind of a unique situation about them. Not only are they husband and wife, they are stepbrother and stepsister. It seems after Sharon’s dad and Bob’s mother passed on the two remaining parents hit it off and tied the knot!

We have a couple in the park right now from “home”. Well, kinda, sorta. At the bottom of the state of Delaware is a town called Delmar. The town straddles the Delaware-Maryland state line and they are from the Maryland side. They are just starting out on their RV’ing adventures and are learning as they go. Oh how we remember those days!

We are not happy with the furniture in our 5th wheel. Well, specifically the recliners. They are very nice to the touch with the soft leather but the construction leaves a lot to be desired. We have been in contact with Carriage, who built our RV, via email and also with the company that sells the furniture to the RV manufacturers. We have sent a dozen pictures to both and the furniture dealer admits they had a problem with their source for furniture and agree it is poorly made. Our “case” was sent to a higher up in Carriage and yesterday we got the word that we will be reimbursed monetarily for the chairs so that we can go buy what we want. Will we be reimbursed to the point that we won’t have to put any of our own money out? Heavens no, but we didn’t expect that either. With what they offered us per chair, we’re happy. Especially, since we aren’t going to buy two new chairs. We’re going to get one really nice, well made recliner and a nice end table. I don’t sit in the other recliner so its foolish to have one that just takes up space. This couldn’t have come through at a more opportune time with Father’s Day coming up. Lazy Boy’s all over the land will be on sale!

We’ve been sky watching the past day or two as the there is an air show this weekend at the base and the pilots have been practicing. I think we are in for a heck of a show! The nice part? We can see it all from the comfort of the FamCamp as the airfield is just across the way. The Golden Eagles, the parachute team is in town too for the show.

Stop back to see what adventure we go on tomorrow,,,if I can stop Bob from puttering.
