We just have to get out of the house again today. We decided to take a ride up to Rehoboth Beach and check it out. See what changes have been made and what has stayed the same.
I'm sure you have all seen road signs in your area that warn you of deer crossings or children playing and things of that nature. How many of you have signs like this?
Yep, turtles are protected in Delaware!
So we arrive at the beach.
It took us awhile to find a parking place but that is expected at this time of year.
We walked up to the boards and the first thing we saw was Dolle's Salt Water Taffy store. This store has been a boardwalk staple forever and a day. Inside you find bins and bins of salt water taffy in every flavor and color imaginable!
As in Bethany Beach, the sand dune has been built and dune grass planted. This really cuts down on the available beach space which was at a premium to begin with but this dune is really needed!
While standing on the boardwalk a familiar sight appeared in the sky. A small plane towing a banner giving information about a multitude of things to do and places to go while at the beach.
One of the big attractions on the boardwalk are the games to play. Here a few take their chance on a water shooting game.
And doesn't everyone love to Whack a Mole? I mean really, is your trip to the beach complete if you don't go home with a cheap stuffed animal?
Meet Audrey, HER day is complete! She won several stuffed animals by landing a tennis ball in a colored section of a muffin tin. Way to go sweetie! She was so thrilled when she won!
Of course some people don't need the sounds and lights of the boardwalk games and rides to give them a thrill. For some, all it takes is a box of popcorn and a flock of hungry seagulls.
We certainly enjoyed our time walking the boards but the time had come that we had seen all the changes and all the things that stayed the same. It was time to head back to Kenny's. He is returning today and we wanted to get back to see if he arrived yet.
Not knowing what his dinner plans were or if he would even be home in time to eat with us, we stopped to pick up subs. Kenny, you are on your own pal!
