2/16/2014 Winter Olympics Parade

(Arizona City)

Dianne is here and we started activities this morning with finishing up our signs for the parade today.  We went over to Bonnie’s to put the final touches on.

The parade is going to be something special this year, we know that already.  You see, a rivalry has been called between the Canadians and the Americans.  The Canadians even had meetings!

I had hoped to make new signs for the states that are represented by residents in the park but time was too close and it just couldn’t be done.  Next year we’ll start in January!

We were to gather at 1:15 near the main entrance.  Washington state was front and center with their Seahawks banner as they are very proud of their Superbowl winners.  Linda D, Jackie B, Bonnie L and Bev stand proudly.

Of course we have to have cheerleaders for the games.  Here’s Keith P clowning around with Nancy P. and Pat W.

Our friend Wilf with his Canada Survival Belt.  Wilf, always prepared.

My good friend Peggy drover her golf cart to represent the playing of Dominoes in this park.

Colorado was well represented.  Terry and Mary L. went all out with this golf cart.

The shuffleboard players had their golf cart all decorated.

Can you guess what activity this golf cart represents?  I thought this was very clever.

Dear friends Chuck and Janet C will run the Horseshoe events for men and women.

Carol W. was all decked out in her red, white and blue.  The word had been put out that all the Americans should wear our colors.

IMG_6564
Jane S. was one of the two parade coordinators and they did a bang up job of organizing it.

IMG_6565

Vern and Karen were reps for the state of Idaho and distributed Idaho spuds to the spectators.

Pat T. (93) (we use her site number after her name because we have two women with the same name here and its how we differentiate between the two) all decked out in her colors.

My sweet friend Jean A. displaying the medals she’s won over the years and carrying her US and Idaho state flag.  She liked this picture and as a surprise I had a print made and framed it for her.

The Canadians followed the Americans in the parade and they were a sea of red and white.

Jim & Sharon D are in charge of the putting event in this years Olympicas and Dennis D has mini golf covered.

IMG_6560
Everyone got a chuckle from the back of Sharon’s shirt.  it’s a sure sign you are Canadian if we hear that ever popular Eh?

IMG_6561
Ron L had his bike all decorated in the Canadian colors as well as himself.

One question heard over and over again was, “WHO is going to watch the parade if we’re all in it?”

Well, we DID have spectators!
