9/20/07 On The Road West

We left Hannibal today and headed west. Our destination today was Independence, Missouri. We traveled only 204 miles today so it was an easy ride. We didn't leave our campground until eleven and shortly before three we were pulling into our new "downtown" campground.

Here is the first picture we took with our new camera. Its of our rig in the campground in Hannibal.

We stayed at Campus RV Park smack in the middle of downtown Independence. They pick the darnedest places to put an RV park. It was an Escapees club so our cost was only $20.43 for the night. It seems the further west we go the cheaper it gets. Well, with the exception of fuel of course, that's getting more expensive!

We debated on staying here for a few days as the lady in the office pointed out all kinds of things to see and do and there is a lot going in the area. She was quite proud of the Truman Presidential Library being in Independence and rightfully so. I would like to see a Presidential Library but one that belongs to a president I know. Truman went out of office six months before I was born and while I certainly know of him he wasn't one of my presidents and Bob was 4 1/2 and he doesn't remember him at all as President so we decided to pass on that one and move on.
This evening we watched TV by aerial, no cable here, and turned in early.
