5/2/2011 A Trip to Town

Today we had to go in search of a Laundromat. There wasn’t one in the town of Box Elder where the Ellsworth Air Force Base is located, which we found really strange. In fact, this is the first base we’ve been on that doesn’t one.

So we made a trip to the closest place to find one and that was the Flyin’ J truck stop. We would have been there all day since they have three machines and two were in use and I had six loads of clothing/sheets/towels to do. We got directions to a regular Laundromat in downtown Rapid City.

We found it with no problem and the prices were reasonable which was a pleasant surprise. Everything washed and folded we headed back to the base.

The past few days we had been looking online for camp hosts job available in this area because the Badlands area of South Dakota just has so much to offer as far as things to see and do are concerned. I spent the afternoon sending out emails ….just in case.

It’s chilly here today, low 50’s and breezy. We’re moving to the most northern parts of North Dakota, just 20 miles from the US/Canada border. What were we thinking??? It’s going to be cold up there!
