5/4/2011 It’s Ours!

The camp hosting position in the FamCamp is ours if we want it!

Bob and I are really excited about this because not only do we get to stay in this nice FamCamp but we are paid and are given a laundry allowance on top of our site with full hookups all in exchange for 20 hours per week. That’s what it averages out to. It is up to us and the other camp host couple to figure out our own schedule. Since the other couple is returning from last year we’ll probably go with the schedule they used last year. Five on and five off. We just have to BE THERE. Answer questions the guests may have on how to get somewhere, what to see, what to do. Just be a presence.

There are 30 RV spaces in this FamCamp and I don’t know how many tent sites. Al told us the Boy Scouts will have a camping weekend and it will be full during Sturgis Bike Week.

See the building on the left hand side in the picture below? Our space will be to the right of that building.

So, once again our plans have changed, but what a good change this is! We are so excited about being here for Sturgis Bike Week, being able to see Custer State Park, having the opportunity to explore some caves and watch the very moving Mount Rushmore evening lighting ceremony and that’s just a small sampling of this summer adventure. We have area guide books and I went through them and checked off things we’ll want to see and do, the books are all check marks!

Congrats to you both, Snookie! That is a very beautiful part of the country. Battleground of the Little Bighorn; Mt. Rushmore; and don't forget the Crazyhorse Monument, too! And, of course, Deadwood!!! Enjoy! and be safe!

Great News! Glad you found something & it is in a beautiful part of the country. We really enjoyed it there in 2000. Just be prepared for fires. There were many in the area when we went through there & ash flies everywhere. You will enjoy site seeing & I'm sure Bob will get to fish!
Enjoy your time off.

Congrats on the new job. Sounds like a sweet one. We loved that area so much. When you see the lighting of Mt. Rushmore for the first time, with music playing honoring our military, Oh the goosebumps you will have! Look for the mountain goats around there. Have a fun summer.
