1/2/2011 This Goes Here,,,That Goes There,,,

We emptied box and bag after box and bag today. We are making headway.

Someone wrote in a comment that it seems like we are moving backwards. That we are getting bogged down by “stuff” again and having the work and care of a house. I gave this some thought and I have to say I disagree. Normally we wouldn’t be doing what we are. We wouldn’t have rented out the park model but as explained earlier we wanted to be in the 5th wheel while its under warranty.

Again, normally, this much work wouldn’t have gone into the park model but the flooring materials just had to be replaced, they just couldn’t go another season. Yes, we could have hired the work out and been done with it but I can guarantee you Bob would not have been satisfied with anyone else’s finish work on the floors. Did we ever think we would run into the problems we did? No, we didn’t, but hey, that’s home ownership.

Since we are renting the park model out we had to take every single thing out that was personal with the exception of things under lock and key. If you recall from reading earlier we were hoping to get to the point that some day we would only have to move food when we arrived and when we left. In that light we had a lot of belongings to get out. So are we going backwards? Certainly not intentionally. This season it just worked out that way.

We made great strides in getting things into their places. We also started two piles. One of clothing for the fellow who comes into the park that he distributes to the less fortunate and one for EBAY! Oh yeah, its time to get back into EBAY! We have lots of stuff to sell in order to get rid of it and this will give us a chance to contribute to our fuel fund for this summer.

Yes, we’ve heard the rumors of higher fuel prices coming. We’re hoping they are just that,,,,rumors. I think this is just a ploy to get us to pay higher prices on a regular basis. They’ll shoot the price up to $3.75/$4.00 a gallon and when it settles down at $3.30 we’ll be happy it isn’t $3.75 anymore and be content. I really think somebody in Washington better get on the stick and tell the Middle East that if we pay $90.00 for a barrel of oil and then a bushel of wheat will cost the same. Bet the price comes down then! Or better yet, use our own oil! We’ve got it.

Living out of coolers is the pits! Especially now as we are in the midst of a cold spell. A real cold spell! Like down in the 20’s at night. Thankfully an end is in sight and we’ll be back up in the mid to high 60’s before the week is out. It gets mighty cold stepping out to get milk out of the cooler at 7a.m. when still in a robe. Then there is the second trip for cream cheese for the bagels we decided to have. Then of course Bob changes his mind and he wants butter instead of cream cheese. I want my fridge fixed!

I think tomorrow we can start the tours of the new 5th wheel. Our friends have been waiting patiently to get to come in and see our new home. Until we can put things away we’ve been keeping everyone at bay. No sense in letting anyone in just to look at boxes and bags.
