10/4/2012 Another Instance of a Small World

(Savannah, GA)

Back on the road again, destination Savannah.  We’ll be staying at Lott’s Island RV Park on the Hunter Army Air Field, just minutes from downtown Savannah.

It was an uneventful trip which is truly the best kind.

We did stop to get our new home weighed at a CAT Scale.  Our weight is good and that’s the news we wanted.  That said, Bob has decided that he’s going to get rid of a lot of the tools he’s carrying.  We have so many duplicates of tools and who really needs 20 plus Phillips head screw drivers.  We’re also going to sell our generator.  We thought that was a must have but we never use it so we’re not going to carry that extra weight anymore.  Once we get settled someplace for awhile we’ll put things like the generator on Craig’s List.

So we arrive at the Hunter Army Airfield around two o’clock.  We pull into the campground and camp host came out to meet us.  I hear Bob say, “I know you!”.  I looked out his window and saw a fellow I also recognized but couldn’t place where from.  The camp host replied that he too recognized us.  It took Bob a minute but he remembered that the camp host and his wife, Vito and Nora, were our next door neighbors when we spent that week in Corpus Christi last April.  Once again we run into someone we’ve met before.
They got us set up with a site and gave us a map of the base so that we could find the Commissary.

After getting set up and giving a tour of our new rig we took off to pick up a few things at the base grocery store.  It was so nice to see these prices again!  The Queen of Cheap is happy again!

The normal price for this FamCamp is $22.00 a night but they honor the Golden Age Passport Card and we got the space for $18 per night.  Yes, this Queen of Cheap is very happy.

We have a busy day planned for tomorrow so we called it an early night.
