11/2/2012 A Great Day in Cocoa Beach!

(Cocoa Beach, FL)

This was just the best day!  Weather-wise it was absolutely perfect.  Blue skies, sunshine, low 80’s, low humidity and no wind.

We made short order of things we had to do today so that we could spend the day on our little beach.

Bob snapped this picture out our back window of this fella on the water.  This is the first boat we’ve seen on the river.

Bob was ready to spend some time at his favorite pastime!  He was as happy as a slinky on an escalator!

It wasn’t too long before he reeled this in.

BLOWFISH!

IMG_3434

What teeth this fish has!  It bit down on the hook at one point and held on for quite awhile.

It was aggravating when the fish would swim right by his line.

We soon realized we weren’t alone on our little beach.

This blue heron didn’t want Bob getting too close though.

It seemed to like to have its picture taken because it just stood there for me.

Even when I got closer, it didn’t budge.  It kept its eye on me for sure but didn’t run away.

And then I got too close for comfort.

Then the dolphins came to play.  They have babies with them and they stick very close to mom.

It wasn’t long before our friendly blue heron was back.

I don’t think it was a matter of it being intrigued by us but more of a matter that we were on his or her beach!

I watched this pelican glide just over the water as it looked for food.

Then it flew up and around and dove into the water with a great a splash.

It was finally time to call it a day and get back to the mundane things of life like making dinner.  This was my view out the back window as I got dinner together.

Next time I looked out the view had changed!

We had a great day on the little beach behind our site.  Bob got some fishing in, I started getting my tan back and we watched the wildlife around us.  Yep, in our book that’s a pretty good day.
