4/30/07 It's Official, We're Now Texans!

We were downtown this morning by 9 a.m. to start the process of becoming Texans.

First stop, the tax office. Texas wants to make sure they get their share of taxes from us. We have to pay a transfer tax on both our truck and the rig. It is here this office that we also did the registering of the vehicles. It took several pieces of paperwork for each to get this accomplished. Luckily there was no one in front of us so we took care of this matter in short order. They gave us plates for the rig and a set of 2 for the truck, front and back, something new for us Delawareans. Next stop, driver's licences. After eye tests, I passed without glasses but Bob didn't, we had our pictures taken and were given temporary licences. We'll receive our plastic ones in about 3 weeks in the mail.

So there it is, we're Texans!

When we got back to the campground Bob took care of putting our new plates on.

Off with the old....

On with the new.

We pulled out of Livingston this morning to make our way to Katy, Texas just west of Houston. We have an appointment tomorrow for 8 a.m. at Camping World to get new tires for the rig and to have a recall issue taken care of on our refrigerator. We want to get there the day before so we can learn the lay of the land so that we're on time for our appointment. We've had to change this appointment four times now because we kept getting delayed. We don't want to do anything now to mess it up.
We stayed in campground nearby but didn't get to see much of it because of torrential downpours. Just as well, we were tired anyway.

We want to take this time to wish our niece, Brittany, a very Happy Birthday!
