10/1/2009 Ahh the Land Of Hot, Cold Water

You know you are in the desert when you turn on the cold water faucet and the water is darn near hot enough to wash white clothes. That’s life in the desert!

We are all settled in here at Nellis Air Force Base and today we took care of chores and errands and phone calls. Laundry is caught up, Bob finished up some chores he wanted to take care of, our electric is scheduled to be on in Quail Run on Monday and life is good. Almost.

Tonight I should have watched Survivor. I missed it. Here’s what happened. When we were in Salt Lake City we had Directv hook us up for that area as far as local channels are concerned. We got all our channels and everything was hunky-dory. We get to Nevada, hook up our dish and we’re still getting all channels. Great! Nope, not so great. I didn’t take into consideration the different TIME ZONES! I went to the TV at 8pm and all the 9pm shows are on, what gives? Then it dawned on me. So now this is two weeks in a row that I’m missed my show. Sometimes, things just don’t go right!

I’ve got some things I’d like to share with you. Snookie Share’s on Thursday instead of on Sunday like in the past. Well, the whole two times I did it. Anyway……

Do you grow indoor plants? If so, feed your plants this way. After you cook vegetables save the water. Let cool, then water your plants with this broth. The water is full of true elements and minerals that encourage plants to grow.

Remove nail polish with one swipe! Soak a cottonball in remover and hold it with a piece of plastic wrap. The plastic wrap slows the remover’s evaporation making it last longer. Who knew?

Want a chance to win one of two $500.00 grocery gift cards to purchase your favorite beef cuts for the grill? If so, go to www.womansworldmag.com and enter to win. There is a short registration but its fast and to the point.

Halloween is coming and that brings out the construction paper and markers and whatnot for holiday crafts. For ideas and answers to your crafting questions go to www.bicmarkit.com for spooky craft ideas.

With the December holidays coming here’s another idea for a great gift. Do you have pictures of little ones and not so little ones and grandparents that are far away? You can have your pictures out into book form with either a soft cover or hard cover and it really isn’t that expensive. Now you know its not if I’M saying that! For more info go to: www.familymemories.com

Do you have youngsters in your family age 5 and younger? If so, you may be able to have a children’s book sent to them every month thanks to Dolly Parton…..FREE! It isn’t available everywhere so put in your zip code and see if you live in a area that is serviced. For more info go to: www.dollysimaginationlibrary.com

I hope you can use some of the information above.

Oh, one more thing I did today. I made MY donation to THE CAUSE. I’m still hoping you will donate a minimum of FIVE DOLLARS to my sister-in-law’s American Cancer Society site in support of the fight against breast cancer. C’mon friends, I know you can give FIVE DOLLARS. MAKE YOUR DONATION HERE. To those of you who have made your donations already, please accept my heartfelt THANK YOU!
