The day started out cloudy and overcast and drizzling. I had made plans with my forever friend Elaine to go to the beach today along with her grandson Liam.
It looked the day was going to be a washout on this end but when Elaine called she said she had sunshine and blue skies just 15 miles away. We agreed to give it an hour and see if those blue skies could find their way to the Inlet.
Sure enough an hour later our skies were blue, the sun was out and everything had dried up, we’re going to the beach!
A little after twelve with beach chairs, beach bags, a little boy with a boogie board almost as big as he is, we walked over to the beach. Liam went straight to the water and with no concern of how cold or warm the water was. I wonder at what age that changes…….
Elaine and I spent an enjoyable afternoon talking about everything under the sun. I just love this friend of mine, we seem to connect on so many levels. We find the same things funny, we have the same political views, the same taste in a lot of things and the sharing of thoughts and feelings comes easy for us. I just love my girlfriends and Elaine is one of my favorites.
We had plans of staying late into the afternoon, soaking up the sun, watching her grandson playing in the surf and sand but…..Mother Nature had other plans. Around 2 – 2:30 the clouds came in the breeze was a bit stronger and the rain started spitting. The rest of the topics we hadn’t touched on, the waves that hadn’t been ridden and rays not soaked up as yet would have to wait for another day. Our day at the beach was over. But it sure was fun while it lasted!
