7/11/08 A Much Needed Day of Rest

Wow, we're tired! All the walking of trails, getting in and out of the truck, the early hours and late nights,,,its all taken its toll and we just didn't feel like doing anything today! Besides, fuel here is on the expensive side and we've filled up twice already since we've been here so we're giving the diesel tank a rest too.

Around noon we were sitting outside and Ed and Audrey came over, all excited. They left this morning at five to go look for wildlife. They had their video camera with them so we went to their place to see what they had experienced this morning. They saw everything! A herd of buffalo crossing the river, yes, buffalo do swim, wolves, grizzly bears and elk. Bob looked at me and said we're getting up at four to do the same thing! Yeah, right, like that will happen!

We got out the ladder golf game and played that with Ed and his daughter Lauren.

Game over, we sat around with Audrey and Ed in the afternoon sun, talking the day away. Now let me tell you, Bob has met his match in Audrey as far as beer drinking goes. She matched him beer for beer and I think there may be some days when he couldn't keep up with her. Not many, but a day here and there.

Our conversation turned to tomorrow's activities and they told us they were taking a horseback ride through the countryside. Bob jumped on that and it was decided we would go with them. We went down to the camp office to make our reservations and we were lucky enough to get the last two horses in the same time slot.

Back at the campsite we talked about what to wear and Bob brought out a hat for me to wear.

Eh, I don't know about this, you know, hat hair, I don't want to have to deal with that.

So tomorrow we're going horseback riding! We sat outside with Ed and Aud until the mosquitoes were so bad we were driven indoors. It was just as well as they had to take their daughter to an area with cell reception so she could talk to her boyfriend. Let me tell you, Lauren was going through major cell phone withdrawals!
