9/10/2010 So Long Marv….

We were up early this morning although we didn’t have far to go. We’re only traveling about 60 miles today to Grand Rapids.

We pulled our rig out of the side yard to the street so that we could help Marvin get his back into the usual parking space. I’m glad I don’t have to mow all this lawn!

As we said so long to our dear friend we each had our picture taken with him. Marvin’s giving a thumbs up on his friendship with Bob!

How’s this for a case of bed head???

Reluctantly we said so long. One more round of hugs and handshakes and we were on our way.

Grand Rapids here we come! We’re going to there to meet Rick. We’ve been sharing lots of emails and phone calls with Rick since July and today we will finally get to meet him.

He proved to be just as nice in person as he has been on the phone and in our electronic mailings.

We spent several hours at Rick’s place and when all was said and done here is what we ended up with.

An empty refrigerator….

Nothing in our medicine chest….

Bare cabinets…..

Our freezer is gone!….

Nary a stitch of clothing to be found…..

Why? Why is our home empty? Because…….

WE GOT A NEW ONE!

Do you remember a few weeks back I said we were going to be making some big changes, well, we went bigger by two feet! A few people knew we were going to do this, but not many. We wanted to keep it under wraps until all the T’s were crossed and I’s dotted.

This transition did not go smoothly. When we got there we found that the additional air conditioner had been installed, the upgraded tires put on but the microwave had not been switched out for the microwave/convection oven I wanted. Rick assured us it wouldn’t take long to do. Turns out the ovens are on backorder but they had one in stock for another customer and they would call him and ask if it was ok for them to put it in ours since he wouldn’t be bringing his rig in until the end of the month. They called, he said no. As it turns out the one in stock for him was ordered incorrectly and it was a plain jane microwave anyway. This is a good thing because he won’t come in now and find out the day of that the wrong machine was in stock for him.

Rick went in search of a microwave/convection on the sales lot and found one. They switched the machines and we were golden.

After all the paperwork was completed we could finally start the transition from the old rig to the new. When we were still at Marv’s we had said that we would line the shelves and find a home for everything and take our time and do it right the first time. Yeah, well, so much for those plans! We quickly changed those plans and decided to just get it moved, it didn’t matter where it went just get it to the new rig. It was supposed to rain on Saturday and we just didn’t want to spend two nights in the parking lot. We figured we could get to the resort where the dealership made arrangements for one free night and we would stay an extra two and get everything where it should be. Go ahead, have a good laugh.

We moved as much as we could but we tired around six. We went to get something to eat, came back, moved a few more things and called it a night. We were both in bed and asleep by nine.

A new home! We’re so excited!

Ohhh how fun!!! I just love finding new places for things and reorganizing and moving into a new rig! I fantasized about what went where for 4 days before we got the check to buy our last rig... and had all the stuff outta the old one, toot sweet!

When my mom bought a new one, we tossed everything in and went camping. rows of boxes on the bed, floor, bathroom and on the couch. Then while at the campground we sorted and put things away.

Anxious to see a whole bunch of pics of your new rig!
