4/9/2009 Farewell Quail Run!

SO LONG QUAIL RUN

We didn't get out as early as we planned this morning. This is the first time we've hooked up to really go someplace and it was a learning experience. Not everything was where it was before, things got misplaced, things didn't fit where we thought they would. It was a tense morning.

We finally pulled out around 11:30, an hour a half later than what we planned. We don't have far to go today, just Phoenix. We're going to Beaudry RV to get new shocks put on the rig, the wheel bearings re-packed, the brakes checked and few other things to make sure we are truly road worthy.

We arrived at 12:30 and they took the rig in by one. We made a quick trip to Arby's for lunch and then back to the dealership to wait.

They didn't get it all done like we hoped so ended up spending the night in Camp Beaudry, their parking lot. After getting set up we set out for dinner. I had heard from my cousin Mike that there was a Capriotti's in the area now and a sub sounded wonderful! Its been a long time since we've had one. We got the address, found that it wasn't far from where we were at all and headed that way. We were there within 10 minutes and found it CLOSED! They had run out of rolls! Darn! No, DAMN! I wanted a sub so badly! The sign said they wouldn't open again until Monday. Disappointment, major disappointment!

We ended up at Applebee's and it was good, but it sure wasn't a Capriotti's sub!

We got a whole two channels via antennae so TV was limited to say the least. Oh well, we're only here for one night.

Since there isn't a whole lot to write about or much to watch on TV I thought I'd clean out my "Save for the blog" folder. Here's some jokes or other stuff I kept and thought I would use as "fillers" if there was a day where there wasn't much to tell you about, like today.

The Mayonnaise Jar and 2 CUPS OF COFFEE

When things in your life seem almost too much to handle, when 24 Hours in a day is not enough, remember the mayonnaise jar and 2 cups of coffee.

A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, wordlessly, he picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls.

He then asked the students if the jar was full. They agreed that it was.

The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar.

He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles rolled into the open areas between the golf balls. He then asked the students again if the jar was full.. They agreed it was.

The professor next picked up a box of sand and poured it into the jar. Of course, the sand filled up everything else. He asked once more if the jar was full. The students responded with an unanimous "yes."

The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar, effectively filling the empty space between the sand.

The students laughed.

"Now," said the professor, as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things - God, family, children, health, friends, and favorite passions -- things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full.

The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, house, and car. The sand is everything else -- the small stuff.

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.

So...Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your partner out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal.

"Take care of the golf balls first -- the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand."

One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented.

The professor smiled. "I'm glad you asked".

It just goes to show you that no matter how full your life may seem, there's always room for a couple of cups of coffee with a friend."

Please share this with someone you care about.

I JUST DID.

Several years ago a friend told me about this web site, http://bensbargains.net/ , and I thought I would share it with you. Shoppers in the crowd will really enjoy browsing this site. It opens on a page for "deals" and you can select additional categories on the right, i.e., coupons, freebies, rebates, etc. Some of the stuff looked pretty good to me, and if it doesn't look good today, look again tomorrow - it is changing constantly.

Well, that's my little bit of helpfulness for today.
